Hot seat questions: deepen the connection with your significant other

Written by Sheli Nuñez

I’m sure that if you’re a couple that’s celebrating Valentine’s Day together you must have a solid foundation. But what if you can deepen your connection and understanding of each other a bit more? This is a great time to ask hot seat questions, they’re made to encourage significant and interesting conversations. I believe any couple should give it a try, whether you’re starting out or have been together most of your lives. I have prepared 8 questions to get the ball rolling. Feel free to shape them to fit your unique situation or to inspire others.

Before you get started create a safe environment where both of you can feel safe to be vulnerable. This could be in a room you both share or a living room if you know nobody else will be dropping by. Trust me this questions have the potential of keeping you both up all night. Maybe light up some candles and enjoy a home cooked meal in the process. If one of you is shy or gives short answers ask them to elaborate, the point is to dig deep into our subconscious. No one is allow to give cliche answers, that ruins the dynamic. Lastly, have fun with them, that’ll create a lasting bond.

Questions:

  1. If we had a chance to time travel together, which era or event in history would you choose for us to visit, and why?
  2. If you could remove one fear or insecurity from your life instantly, what would it be, and how do you think it might change you?
  3. What do you think is the most significant lesson you’ve learned from our relationship so far, and how has it changed your outlook on life?
  4. If you could relive one moment of our relationship, which one would it be, and would you change anything about it?
  5. In what ways do you think our relationship challenges or encourages personal growth and self-discovery for both of us?
  6. How do you think our cultural backgrounds or upbringing influence the way we perceive love and relationships?
  7. In what ways do you believe our individual pasts have shaped our present connection?
  8. How do you think our perspectives on love, spirituality, or the universe align or differ, and how does that influence our relationship?
