Chic List: overlooking sunscreen is what’s keeping you from your best skin

Chic List: overlooking sunscreen is what’s keeping you from your best skin

I know you’ve probably heard this a thousand times, but maybe you should hear it once more. I don’t blame you, I’ve been where your are. We all know that we must protect our skin from sun damage. Sunscreen is what your skincare routine is missing. Just like you, I’ve read it, I’ve heard it and yet struggled to make it a non-negotiable in my routine.

Maybe what you need is to see it from another perspective. If you’re fighting dark spots and hyperpigmentation, there’s something you should know. No matter what miracle product you’re investing in from a high end store, it won’t do you any good if you skip this fundamental step. Many key ingredients found in those formulas tend to react badly to sun exposure. Maybe you’ve recently started using one and only notice your skin getting darker, that’s why.

On the other hand, maybe you don’t have problematic skin and are just trying to keep it that way. Perhaps you’re just trying to prevent wrinkles or dark under eyes. It all circles back to sunscreen. Part of the damage caused by prolonged sun exposure is premature aging and dehydrated skin. All the benefits you’re seeking from your products are potentially being undone without you knowing. It’s not for nothing that dermatologist keep insisting that we add it to our routines.

Just keep in mind that whatever you’re trying to prevent can be counteracted once you step outside. Next time you find yourself buying your regular skincare products remember to add a sunscreen to the list. Better yet, do it as soon as possible. You’ll Immediately notice the difference in your skin once you do.
