Try it now: icy makeup with a twist on the Y2K trend

Written by Sheli Nuñez

Following the warm and bronze makeup that was trending for fall, this winter will feature the opposite. This season will be all about grayish, cool tone, icy eye makeup looks. The trend is inspired by the Y2K era but this time around is a little bit more glamorous. No matter if you’re looking for inspiration for day to day look or a stylish evening, this is the must try trend of the season that can work for a variety of occasions.

When starting out the eye makeup most people opt for a white or light grey eyeshadow. This will help the other shades pop out a little more. After that it can go many ways. If you’re on the lookout for a bit more glam you can use a silver, white or light blue shimmer eyeshadow which will make your eyes stand out. A simple option would be to use it only on the inner corner, it’s perfect for beginners.

If you rather try a more polished approach layer medium tone grey eyeshadow in the outer corner. For a bit of drama feel free to add instead a bit of black or dark grey in the outer corner of the eyes. Brown eyeshadow will work just as good in the outer corner or base if you prefer something subtle.

In case you’d like to make a statement you can opt for silver glitter all over the eyes. Another great option would be a trusty eyeliner look instead of eyeshadow which is just as glamorous. Either way you decide to try it just remember the shades to combine are white, all the greys, black, brown or light blue. Just picture the colors associated with the winter time.

The rest of the face makeup is actually not complicated at all. You can follow your base routine as usual. Also consider trying healthy or glowing skin finish by incorporating a hydrating or dewy primer to your routine. Use a bit of blush and bronzer to add dimension.

For the lips you can either use gloss by it self letting your natural lip color take center stage. The other option would be to apply a mauve or reddish nude lipstick if you want to follow the rules. The best part about this trend is that a white shimmer eyeshadow can look good on any skin tone and you can try it however you feel fits your personality best.
