We participated in Anastasia Beverly Hills’s  Master Class held at the IMPULSE event at Macy’s Ponce where Confesor Bermúdez, Anastasia Beverly Hills Account Coordinator, illustrated the attendees on the correct way to apply makeup, focused specifically on the application of the brand’s GLOW palette.

But this time, I will give you the tips I considered different and practical to apply to our daily makeup routine. They are simple, and break the myths and the information obtained in videos and articles made by people who are not trained in the subject. Let’s start.

  1. First, we need to differentiate between glow, highlight and bronzer. The first one is used at the end of the makeup application to brighten and highlight specific areas of the face. Instead, highlight and bronzer are used to create shadows and light on the face and transform its appearance.
  2. The concealer shade should be the closest to skin color (it has its exceptions).
  3. If a cream contour is used, apply it before foundation and diffuse it as it is applied. This is used when you want to give a more tridimensional look to the face. Confessor always recommends to pick a contour palette in medium tones.
  4. It is necessary to differentiate between correctors and concealer. The corrector comes in several colors and is used to, as its name says, to correct imperfections in the face. On the other hand, the concealer is used to give light in dark areas or to highligh in the contour.
  5. The sponge should be used cool and moist. It will have too much water if it damps a napkin.
  6. The powder contour is applied as follows: dark colors with a brush and white or light shades with a sponge. Remember that it is always applied in the form of semicircular lines. You can also use contour in the eye crease to create depth.
  7. Before using the stensils to trace the shape of the eyebrows, mark the beginning, arch and end points of the eyebrow with an eyebrow pencil.
  8. The wax used before the powder to make up eyebrows and is applied 2 and a half times: the first 2 times from the middle of the eyebrow to the end and then the half goes once from the beginning of the eyebrow to half. This will cause the pwder to adhere properly to the wax and to prevent unpainted areas.
  9. The color of the eyebrows should always be lighter than the color of the hair. The exception to this rule is if you have blond hair, where you should always wear eyebrows in a darker shade than the hair.
  10. Always define eyebrows at the edges with a pencil.
  11. The color applied in the eye crease has to be matte so that it is noticed and creates the depth effect.
  12. To avoid baking when applying dark or intense tones to the eye, the brush should be wet with Evian Spray so that the eyeshadow doesn’t fall below the eye.
  13. We cannot forget to paint the lower eyelid and connect the color applied to the upper eyelid makeup.
