Direct from the Paris runways, Miriam Budet delighted us with her “El Nido” collection for fall winter 2018, this time at San Juan Moda. The Antiguo Casino of Puerto Rico witnessed a collection that made history on the Island, with Budet being the first Puerto Rican female designer to present a collection at Paris Fashion Week. As a result of this, she was awarded by the House of Representatives of Puerto Rico. Not satisfied with this, was one of the honorees in San Juan Moda for having participated in its ten editions. We talked about this and the collection in her workshop.

The prêt-à-porter proposal was an elegant and minimalist one where small details made it an exquisite collection. The pieces presented in Paris were  almost doubled to complete the requirements of the shows on the island. We could catalog it as inspired by Parisian fashion with a Caribbean twist. The layering was present as in all of Budet’s autumn collections.

The protagonists of the catwalk were navy blue, the classic black and white and red. But although there was a lot of linear prints, it was not close to being a collection with nautical air. Taupe and plum tones gave softness to the proposal. There was also a lot of movement both in the fluidity of the pieces and in the game of mixing solids and prints which optically increased it.

Budet incorporated coats and sweaters to the proposal, as well as leather accessories made by the designer, and her first footwear collection.
