The Mercado Caribeño International Art Fair announced the exhibitors for its third edition in Puerto Rico. Twenty five galleries are set to sell work at the Antiguo Arsenal de la Marina Española in Old San Juan. It will run from November 21 to the 24th. Some of the exhibitors for this edition are from Mexico City, New York San Juan, Little Rock, Chicago, Guatemala and more.

The MECA’s first presentation in the Island was in 2017. In 2018, after Hurricane María, MECA focused on the strong cultural aspect of Puerto Rico. Dany Baez who is the founder, explained to ARTnews that “Bringing an international community of curators, artists, and dealers [to the island] is a way for us to say that, in the eye of the crisis, these people keep working and making the best of everything.”

The Art Fair’s main goal is to expand to other caribbean islands like the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Haiti.
