Luego del Huracán María, todos pensamos que el mundo se iba a acabar, que la economía nunca se iba a levantar y que la moda en Puerto Rico estaba perdida. Pero, así como la Isla se está recuperando poco a poco, San Juan Moda no se dio por vencido y creó un evento con fines benéfico para aportar al restablecimiento de Puerto Rico.
La apertura del evento estuvo a cargo del diseñador Eddie Guerrero junto a la madrina de la noche Karla Monroig representando a la entidad sin fines de lucro The Salvation Army y su entrega de juguetes para los niños de Guayama. “Believe” fue una colección para la temporada primavera verano 2018 inspirada en imágenes religiosas como la Virgen María, los vitrales de las catedrales, cruces y el Sagrado Corazón de Jesús. Esta colorida propuesta estuvo llena de estampados y color, teniendo como principales el rojo, el verde, el turquesa y el anaranjado. El desfile fue lleno de contrastes donde se fue de lo misterioso a lo divino, de lo sutil a lo coqueto y de lo juvenil y arriesgado a lo formal y clásico.
After Hurricane Maria, we all thought that the world was going to end, that the economy was never going to rise and that fashion in Puerto Rico was lost. But, just as the island is recovering little by little, San Juan Moda did not give up and created an event with charitable purposes to contribute to Puerto Rico’s restoration.
The opening of the event was held by the designer Eddie Guerrero besides the godmother of the night Karla Monroig representing the non-profit organization The Salvation Army and its toy delivery Guayama’s children. “Believe” was a collection for the spring summer 2018 season inspired by religious images such as the Virgin Mary, the stained glass windows of the cathedrals, crosses and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This colorful proposal was full of patterns and color, being as main shades red, green, turquoise and orange. The show was full of contrasts and went from the mysterious to the divine, from the subtle to the flirtatious and from the youthful and risky to the formal and classic.
