The new edition of Revista Balance is now Available

A few years ago ago, while pursuing my undergraduate studies, it began a passion for fashion beyond what was my love of shopping and dressing fashionable. But my background was in Science and International Public Relations  and in Ponce, if you were not fashion designer or a model, you could not have a career in this “glamorous” industry. And I make the emphasis on “glamourous” because it is the least that is the profession, but is still wonderful for me.

Like most young woman my age – but was literally last decade-  we saw how MR Jay in America’s Next Top Model and Rachel Zoe worked hard to achieve great results. And much as I wish at some point become afashion stylist or at least get to do it once, without having the faintest idea of how to do it or what that would entail. Coupled with my passion for journalism I gave myself the task of self-educate on the subject or at least have a notion of what it was. Even a few years ago I had the opportunity to become certified as Fashion Stylist from Centro Moda Escuela de Diseño Lisa Thon. Although I learned a lot of styling and fashion, I accept that I have too much to learn, but I am on my way to do it.

But it is a long way from words to action. But God is so good that he looks at our heart and when we least expect it, He looks inside us and gives us the wants of our heart. So without much explanation, Uma Blasini – former Miss Puerto Rico Universe and Director of Revista Balance gave me the opportunity to put my talents and skills into practice by allowing me to be in charge 0f the styling of the fashion editorial with the candidates for Miss Universe Puerto Rico, Southern Region.

The experience was good and stressful; educative and challenging because the normal work that should make a stylist – in this case a rookie- was multiplied by nine. Thanks to designers Juan Carlos Collazo, Pedro Angel Chaluisant, Luis Enrique and Susana Boutique we could smartly dress the candidates. All jewelry was by Reinhold Jewelers in Plaza del Caribe and the crowns and headpieces were thanks to Noviabella in Ponce.

The biggest challenge for me was being able to pair perfectly the lent pieces with the personality, body type and skin tone of each candidates. With little time of planning and a few hours to take the photos … I can say that I was really good. I thank my assistant Raquel Ortiz and the hair and makeup team led by Misael Cardona that worked with such care and dedication. Thanks to Á. Ginorio for  delivering my vision to another level; Castillo Serralles for opening the doors and last but not least to Uma Blasini for trusting me.

REMEMBER THAT YOU CAN SEE MY WORK IN THE NEW EDITION OF REVISTA BALANCE IN WALGREENS AND WALMART IN PUERTO RICO.
